Sweet Home Alabama starring my girl Reese Witherspoon and Josh Lucas is still my go to Valentine's Day Rom-com.
It came out back in 2002, and centers around Melanie (Witherspoon) who leaves her country town right after high school for the big city to follow her dreams of becoming a fashion designer. While living in New York she meets and falls in love with the cities most eligible bachelor(Patrick Dempsey). He surprises her one evening by closing down the Tiffany store to propose to her (he literally tells her to pick out any ring she wants).
Anyway she says yes, but............ she's still married to the guy from back home, who was the star player of their high school football team. So back to Alabama she goes... with the plan of getting her estranged husband (Josh Lucas) to sign the divorce papers but soon realizes she gave her heart away to him back in high school and never got it back.
You can take the girl out of the south, but you can't take the south out of the girl.
So today as we celebrate another Valentine's Day, with my Starbucks in hand, and fluffy socks on my feet I'm watching Sweet Home Alabama.
