Swear and Shake Take You on a Road Trip with Video for ‘brother’ [video]

Watch Swear and Shake’s new video for “Brother” and experience the road trip you’ve always wanted to take. The song begins with a minute of mellow, stripped-down finger picking and serene harmonies accompanying footage of a gang of four riding into a molten horizon, silhouetted against trees and clouds. The song then picks up from its traditional folk ballad style, and before you know it, the band is plucking away in a folk pop explosion. Half of the song’s chorus is wordless, with singers Adam McHeffey and Kari Spieler harmonizing on all the “aahs.”

The simple sweetness of “Brother”, however, is what makes it so charming. The best moment of the song is when Spieler gets the chance to showcase her low, sultry voice (to match that gorgeous mane of hair) in the bridge, before the whole band joins in on one last chorus. The video is full of colorful fireworks and sparklers, which, combined with the cheeriness of the song, are guaranteed to lift your spirits (even though the cops come to break up the party at the end!).
