Survey Finds Most Americans See U.S. as Fading Superpower

A recent Military Times survey finds America’s active-duty troops to be plagued with low morale in every indicator, from overall quality of life to pay, and with a low regard for their officers and senior military leadership.

A new Rasmussen Reports poll also finds civilian Americans in low spirits, with only 1 out of 4 likely voters or 27% who believe the United States will still be the most powerful nation in the world by the end of the 21st century.

That’s a drop of 10% in less than 6 years. In January 2009, when the great recession began and just before President Obama took office, 37% of likely voters thought the U.S. would still be the most powerful country in the world by the end of this century.
