Supporting LGBTQ+ Foster Youth: How You Can Help
Donations Needed to Support CASA Volunteers in Silicon Valley
Anna D. Smith Fine Art and Real Estate Broker supports initiatives that make a positive impact on our community.
As a youth goes through the journey of coming out, you need to support them and allow them their journey. Let foster youth share their identity once they are comfortable and ready.
Chris, CASA Volunteer
As Pride Month concludes, the importance of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) who support LGBTQ+ foster youth deserves special recognition. Volunteers like Chris are instrumental in providing guidance and assistance to these young individuals.
Over the past eight months, CASA Chris has been working with Luke*, a Non-Minor Dependent (NMD) striving to obtain a new birth certificate and identification documents that align with his gender transition. Through his experiences and CASA training, Chris has supported Luke by connecting him with LGBTQ+ support groups, helping gather necessary documentation, and creating positive memories. *An alias is used to preserve the privacy of the NMD.
Your donation can help us recruit more CASAs like Chris, who play a crucial role in supporting LGBTQ+ foster youth. Each person’s coming out journey is unique and often challenging, but our LGBTQ+ youth benefit greatly from the mentorship and advocacy provided by relatable CASAs.
Please consider supporting our LGBTQ+ foster youth as we close out our Pride celebrations. Together, we can lift up these young individuals and provide them with the support they need.
