Sunset At Praia Do Cabo Do Mundo

By Gail Aguiar @ImageLegacy

One of the joys of living along a western coastline is watching the sun set over an ocean horizon.

Living on the beach in Vancouver, I did this often — in fact, my bedroom faced English Bay and I had a floor to ceiling window. For nearly five years that bedroom was also my office most of the week, and the rest of the time I worked in an office on the Sunshine Coast, which also had an amazing view of the ocean. (In mid-December the sun sets around 4:15pm, so there were plenty of sunset opportunities.) In my early working life, I had one of the best windows facing Coal Harbour at the time, on the 12th floor of the Marine Building. Yes, I did a lot of staring out the window.

My conclusion: once ocean sunsets get old, it’s time to give up on life. Until then, it’s perfectly acceptable and even a really good idea to ditch the kitchen and have dinner at the beach as the sun goes down.
