Sunday Summary | A Year After Graduation

By Hellofreckles @tashajsteel
After such a busy week at work, it's been good to take time to relax and reflect on where I am. We've passed the halfway point of 2015 (how did that happen?!) and for me, it's a bittersweet feeling.

This time last year I was preparing for graduation (and a trip to Paris the week later, but that's another story). The Arts, Design and Media students were the first students in the class of 2014 to walk across the stage and begin the ceremonies last year. I remember waking up really early to get dressed and do my hair. It was the one day I needed to make sure my eyeliner flicks matched and my hair wasn't misbehaving. Looking back, I think I actually did alright and seeing my graduation photos and my certificate make me feel really proud.

Here I am a year later, with a full time job and I'm still managing to blog 3-4 times a week, not to mention my award I won back in October. I even featured on The Body Shop's website this week for this post and Dorothy Perkins recently for this fashion campaign. You could say I've done alright this past year and I'm certainly grateful for the ongoing support from family and friends, as well as everyone who continues to read my blog and appreciate the content I share. Yet even so, I feel like there's something I'm missing, something I'm yet to achieve and I don't know what that is. Maybe it's just the realisation that I can't call myself a 'recent graduate' anymore when the Class of 2015 will be a lot more recent than me...

To anyone who is graduating in the next few weeks, enjoy it and really do make the most of it. The majority of us will only graduate once, unless you do a foundation and top up, or a postgrad, maybe even go on to do a PhD, so be proud wearing that gown and take too many photos!
