Today is the fourth (and last) Sunday of Advent.
The term advent is an anglicized version of the Latin word adventus, meaning "coming".
Luke 1:26-33
The angel Gabriel was sent from Godto a town of Galilee called Nazareth, Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. of the house of David, behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. and the virgin's name was Mary. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? they pierced my hands and my feet. They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. And coming to her, he said,
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. "Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you."
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
"Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his kingdom there will be no end."
Did you know that the coming of Jesus Christ, our Lord, had been foretold in the Old Testament? How cool is that! Below are some examples.

Numbers 24:17
Micah 5:2
Jeremiah 23:5
Zechariah 9:9
Zechariah 11:12
Psalm 23:1, 16, 18

And, we are promised:

Rejoice!
