Summertime Beauty

By Leslielazard @leslielazard

It is officially too hot for jeans, or better yet any form of pant here in New Orleans now – which means it’s now that time of year in which I annually switch up my beauty routine in an effort to beat the heat. My skin care staples are pretty much the same year round, as I have pretty oily and pretty sensitive skin that tends to break out if I vary from my favorite cleanser and acne treatment, but I do like to modify my makeup and add a few new products to the mix once the temps start heating up.

Skin. For my skin I swear by Murad products. My obsession with them started a few years ago when I had a bout of terrible under the skin acne. My dermatologist gave me a prescription for Epiduo (it worked wonders, I highly recommend it) and I started using Murad cleanser along with it. After I used all of my prescribed Epiduo, I continued using the Murad cleanser and added this treatment gel along with it. I haven’t had an issue with under the skin acne, or really any breakouts since then. So when I was on the hunt for a brightening/radiance treatment at Sephora it was a no brainer when the sales associate suggested this product. I’ve been using it a couple of times a week for about a month or so now, and I really see a difference! Overall, my skin is brighter and less tired looking if that makes any sense!

Makeup. For my makeup, I like to keep it simple and as light as possible, as any moderate to heavy amount of makeup will melt practically as soon as you step outside with all of the humidity down here! I keep it simple with a nice light foundation, BB cream, or concealer and powder, add some blush and highlighter, and finish it off with a neutral bronzy/golden shadow and mascara and I’m all set to go! Nars Illuminator is awesome for adding a summer glow and I swear by MAC eyeshadow in Bronze. For lip colors, my current summer favorite is MAC lipstick in Jubilee and See Sheer. They are the perfect neutral and light coral pink for summer!
