With summer starting to wind down, the popular movie season has come to an end. Although, over all, it was a great summer for the movie industry, movie critics have submitted their reviews, and the hits and misses of movies for summer 2012 have been listed.

According to Yahoo Movies, “The Reel Breakdown” places Joss Whedon, and The Avengers, as the top movie for summer 2012. The Avengers kicked off the summer movie season and set the bar high for all other movies to follow. Coming in second, was the surprising hit of Matthew McConaughey’s, Magic Mike. This movie was a major hit for millions of women across the nation. Other movies that rounded out the top seven “hits” of summer 2012 included, Moonrise Kingdom, The Bourne Legacy, The Dark Night Rises, Ted, and Beasts of The Southern Wild.

As for the “misses” of summer 2012, Yahoo Movies placed, (you guessed it), Kristen Stewart’s, Snow White and the Huntsmen, at summer’s number one movie fail. After word got out about Kristen’s affair, what little respect the movie had earned was lost. Coming in second under the loser’s category was the movie Battleship. Unfortunately, pop singer, Rihanna, decided to make her acting debut in a movie that simple “sunk” to the bottom of movie charts. To round out the top six worst movies of summer 2012 Yahoo news listed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Total Recall, Dark Shadows, and Savages as the bottom four.

These movies were listed in order of how much money they each brought in. The number one movie of the summer, The Avengers, brought in more than 1 billion dollars worldwide, while Savages, the last ranked movie according to Yahoo News, only brought in a little over 47 million dollars worldwide. Whether you agree or disagree with this summer 2012 movie review, I think it is safe to say this year’s summer movie season definitely brought forth several decent movies.
