Summer (Holiday) Essentials

By Hellofreckles @tashajsteel
Whether you've been on holiday already, you've got a trip lined up or you're staying at home this summer, there's a few essentials I think we all need to discuss.
SuncreamWhether you think you need it or not - always take it with you. Those harmful rays can still get through on cloudy days, so don't let it fool you. I prefer to use Benefit Dream Screen on my face as it's a lighter formula to other creams, but if I don't have it to hand, I'll slap on whatever's nearest. I'm pretty pale and can burn easily so I always opt for factor 30 or higher.
Sunglasses I probably shouldn't admit this, but I'm that person who wears their sunglasses while driving when it's not even remotely sunny. Sometimes you just don't want to take them off and this Whistles pair make everything look better. Make sure you pack a pair to avoid squinting at the sun, headaches and for those days when you've not slept so well the night before!

Smooth skin
Whether you wax, shave or epilate to keep your legs smooth is up to you but don't leave it until 10 minutes before you leave, or worse yet - completely forget, get away somewhere and realize you've got a patch you missed (it's always the ankles or knees!) Obviously waxing or epilating is going to give the longest results and would be the better option if you're heading off for 2 weeks in the sun. New to waxing? Try Veet strips* or if you really don't trust yourself pop along to a local salon.

Feet
Now I'm the kinda girl who likes smooth feet so when I was given the chance to try out this Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi* I was pretty excited (because everyone gets excited about random electrical items, don't they?) It seriously speeds up my pedicures and leaves my feet feeling really smooth. I do still like to use a foot scrub every now and then too though and usually the brighter the nail varnish, the better! Like Beach Bag from the Models Own Polish For Tans collection.

Water
Wherever you're headed, make sure you drink plenty of water. It's easy to get carried away reading a book, or exploring a new city but make sure you're drinking at least 2 litres a day - maybe more if it's really warm. Pick up bottled water from supermarkets, or if you're staying local, make sure you fill up some bottles to take with you before you go.
