I’m very excited to be guest posting on ObviousLeigh today. I love Leigh’s style and she always looks so fabulous. Summer is fast approaching and with it comes all our favorite trends. Summer fashion is always a lot more fun and laid back, compared to its winter counterpart, with more fun prints and colours that tie in with the season perfectly.
Denim shorts - Nothing says summer better than a nice pair of denim shorts. They have such a casual look to them and can be worn with anything from a pair of sandals, to some sneakers, as well as from a cute tank to a patterned top. As long as they’re not crazy short, they can still look really fun and laid back.
Cute Wedges -The ultimate summer staple if you ask me. Wedges are definitely my favorite type of shoe. They have the glam and height of a normal heel (and I could do with all the extra height), but also the added comfort of a pair of flats. Paired with a cute dress and even a straw hat, you’re well underway to creating a perfect summer look.
Statement necklace - I tend to wear a lot of plain t-shirts in the summer and I find a statement necklace is the best way to spice it up. I’m a massive fan of pairing jeans with a plain top, then using a bright piece of jewelry to add my personality to it. My favourites are those with some bright colours, that have a bit more edge to them with chains and layers.
Sunglasses -Sunglasses are my favorite summer accessory – mainly because it means that I don’t have to wear any eye makeup, saving time in the mornings. But they’re also a great summer accessory. I love how, especially now days, they come in a lot of shades and styles. Aviators are my favourite, but for a glam look, I definitely recommend a large pair of cat eye sunglasses to give off an Audrey Hepburn vibe.
Flower headband - If you’re planning on hitting any festivals this summer, a flower headband is what you need. It perfectly adds a boho vibe and is great for any laid back summer hairstyles, from the side fish tail braid to those sexy beachy waves. They’re a must have for your festivals and summer picnics and will keep your hair in place all day.
Hat - I never thought I would like them, but straw hats are becoming a summer staple for me. They look so good and really make you feel like you’re somewhere warm rather than rainy old England. There’s such a great variety of them on the high street and whether you want something small and subtle, or large and intense, there’s definitely something to suit your needs.
Arm party bracelets - While a statement necklace is a must have accessory, you can also opt for some major arm party – stacking of bracelets for those of you who don’t know. You can mix and match different textures, metals and colours, and can add as many as you want (or your arm can handle) without it looking too much. The great thing about this trend is that these don’t have to be too expensive. You can buy lots of sets from the high street, then mix and match as you please.
Red lipstick - Is there anything better than red lipstick? While I usually wear it in the evenings, I would love to be one of those girls able to wear it throughout the day as well. It adds such a glamorous look in the simplest way possible. MAC’s Lady Bug is a personal favorite as it’s such a vibrant color and is so long lasting.
Bright tops - I love bright tops, and especially love the on Leigh wore here. It’s the perfect color and I love the slightly oversized feel to it too. They’re a nice way to brighten up any look, especially if you’re like me and love black or dark blue skinny jeans. Pair the look with a pair of wedges, and you’re good to go.Neon Bag - Neons are the hot colours of the season. They’ll add a pop of color to any look and because it’s still pretty miserable weather for June, so a bit of color will make all the difference, making you stand out and feel brighter. The weather is still quite dreary so a bright bag is definitely a good remedy to beat the weather blues. I particularly LOVE this neon bag. It’s so pretty and the color is so fun.
