Last summer I did a summer book club. It was kind of a way to force myself to read more than just what I come across on the internet. To pick up books from the library while my children were choosing books to read during the summer. And while it did get me reading it seemed we had some trouble connecting. People were having a hard time getting the books I chose. Or just the business of everyone home made it hard for some to find time to read. Then my chat thing was hit or miss. So it didn’t quite go as I had envisioned.
So I think for this summer we’ll just make it a Summer Book Discussion. You can come by and discuss whatever books you’re reading this summer. I’ll post about my reads throughout the summer. I’m leaning towards a summer filled with horror novels. Get my Steven King on this summer. Sounds fun, doesn’t it?
But who knows what will strike my fancy. Remember, my kids are getting older and sometimes they have some good books on their to read list. As a matter of fact my 11 year old daughter got her summer reading book recommendation list already and Old Yeller was on it. I think that might be worth a reread if my daughter decides to pick it up.
My kids get out of school June 25 this year. So all of this will begin on June 26. So 2 weeks until the start of Monica’s Mom Musings Summer Book Discussion. I hope this works out better than last summer.
