Summer at River Bar, Washington

By Hellofreckles @tashajsteel
A couple of weeks ago I headed along to River Bar for their new summer drinks launch. I'd seen a few cocktails online, so off we went and we were not disappointed.Welcomed with a Gin Genie and non alcoholic Rhubarb and Red Grape, both very refreshing and a hint in the bright direction we would be going during the summer drinks launch.
'The Twister One' is exactly what you think it is - a mini twister lolly on top of a cocktail. A great mix of childhood summer memories in a playful cocktail. I tried the non-alcoholic version too, as Nick really wanted a twister lolly (can you blame him?!) and it was really good.

If you don't drink it's worth noting that River Bar staff are flexible and willing to making cocktails how you want them. If I was going along for lunch, I'd probably get the non-alcoholic twister so I'd have the ease of driving. Equally, if you've got a fancy for a certain cocktail not on the menu, just ask!
Food was served in the form of mini burgers and these sliders were really filling. I'll definitely be going back to sample the full sized ones and the mention of a 'hipster burger' on the menu did make me smile.
As it was a work night I refrained from having too many cocktails but I no doubt will be back to try more from their summer menu. The Texas Zombie looks interesting and there's another coconut themed one, Rum Runner, that's just asking for a return visit. This one I tried above is the Waikiki Cooler, a mix of dark rums, coconut cream, pineapple juice and guava syrup topped with mango pebbles to add an extra fruit kick.

What do you think of these new cocktails? Would any take your fancy?
