A lot of women find getting dressed during the transitional months tricky. I, however, love it. I like layering my clothes and that it isn't quite cold enough for a winter coat. Plus, it is just nice to be outside. After a long, hot summer, this is always a welcomed change.

In today's post, I am going to share tips on stylish ways to commute to work during the transitional months. If you are in a walking city, these tips will prove additionally helpful. For some of you, this stretch of time may last for quite a while and, for others, like me, this may go by in a blink of an eye before the cold weather sets in and it will be completely miserable to go from point a. to point b.. Either way, take a look at the suggestions below.

Stylish Ways to Commute to Work During Transitional Months

Outfit #1

A large scarf, like a Pashmina, is a smart choice to have for a commute to work. Not only does it look polished, while offering a light layer of warmth, but it can be worn as a scarf around the neck with a coat as the weather continues to get more frigid. Plus, don't forget your Pashmina scarves as wraps for formal looks too.

In this look, I added a pop of color with this Echo Design scarf to these basic black tailored pants from Theory and wrap blouse from Reiss that is accessorized with a layered necklace from Ann Taylor, feminine heels from Ivanka Trump and grey tote from Rebecca Minkoff. To further finish the transitional look, I added these sunglasses from Marc by Marc Jacobs and, because I love dichotomy style and doing things like mixing hard edge with feminine, these fingerless leather driving gloves from Fratelli Orsini.

An important thing to keep in mind about your stylish commuter look is that once you remove your cool weather layers and purse that your outfit is still stylish.

Outfit #2

A client of mine recently bought this duster sweater from BOSS Hugo Boss and loved it. Not only is it a gorgeous, beefy knit, but it is a perfect outwear piece for transitional months. This will be particularly useful for my client who lives in the south and will probably wear this type of outerwear piece well into the winter. We saw her wearing it with dresses, jeans, skinny pants, and more. She is really going to get her money's worth. If your transitional weather window is much shorter than hers, keep in mind that this sweater can be worn indoors as well as a cardigan or soft tailored look during the winter.

For a transitional season commute to work, I added this duster cardigan to this work look consisting of a simple J. Crew sheath, a pair of red suede heels, black stud earrings, some stacked bracelets from Bauble Bar and an eye-catching black and white Brahmin purse. The outfit is further ready for a transitional commute to work with a pair of oversized grey sunglasses from Native Eyewear and a pair of grey leather gloves from Warmen.

Outfit #3

I probably don't need to tell you that your blazers make excellent outwear pieces during transitional months. Here, this J. Crew corduroy blazer in camel adds extra style and warmth to this Theory skirt and short sleeve sweater. The scarf from Loft adds additional color, and can either be left on all day or taken off once you arrive at work. The outfit is further finished with a pair of Sole Society booties, Ray Ban aviators, tortoise stud earrings, a cognac bag from MICHAEL Michael Kors and, for a final touch, blue leather gloves.

When commuting to work during the transitional months, think in terms of layers and keep adding until that dastardly winter coat is required.
