I'm delighted to introduce fierce and fabulous Hilda, a life and style blogger who writes Over the Hilda who lives in Ireland and shares her Stylish Thoughts with us here.
Confidence! If you feel you look good, you will own what you are wearing, no matter what it is. It is as simple as that
What is the one thing you would spend a lot of money on?I have to admit that I am a bit of a bargain hunter, but I don't skimp on a good coat (and boots that I can walk in). Living in Ireland, it is the one item that gets plenty of use and I like to look stylish and keep warm at the same time. My favourite coats in recent years have been a red one from Coast and this dusky pink from Bastyan.
Wear loose comfortable clothes and layer. And most importantly, wear comfortable wedges or flat shoes and I tend to wear flight socks on the plane to keep my legs from swelling.
What's the secret to looking polished?
I am not sure that I am ever polished. But if my hair is not right, I might as well stay at home, I feel awful, no matter what I am wearing. It is not for nothing that it is called 'your crowning glory'. I have recently started going to Darren Lacken@crowstreetcollective Dublin and I have never been happier with my hair. He is simply THE BEST. It is not just me saying that! He is an award-winning top stylist.
What is your current obsession?
I loved the cold-shoulder from day one and cannot stop purchasing. They are so flattering and flirty...I own over a dozen, but I need to find a new obsession.
Who inspires you?
I am inspired by other 'older' bloggers who like me are still hugely interested in looking good and feel that we have plenty to offer in the style stakes. Many are way more experimental than I am and I admire their energy and sassiness. I am not sure if you have heard of Shauna@chicover50 but she is the epitome of cool.
Do you have a signature piece or style?
I love kimonos.. they can add a certain chutzpah to a pair of jeans and a tee. I own several and often borrow from my very stylish stylist daughter@courtneysmithstyle
I like to think that it is my smile. I try to stay upbeat and positive.
How would you describe your personal style? You are never too old to wear something. It might just not suit you. So try it and then decide - advice from my stylish daughter
I guess I am classic with a twist. I am certainly not afraid of trends, but I like to think that I know what suits me.
Brigitte Macron shows that an older woman can be sexy and intelligent!
