So I love a good plimsoll and I love a good print but there are some trends that come in and I just have to smirk, not because they're not cool or stylish but because of their insincerity. I'm sure we're all aware of the tartan trend but there's a particular print that's attributed to a certain plastic bag that African's (mainly Nigerian's) refer to as Ghana-must-go (no shade thrown at all but Google the history).
All of a sudden, it's a big fashion hit among top designers that has trickled down the fashion line. I met a designer called Samantha many years ago who was actually making impressive statement bags and pieces out of these prints but there was only so much noise she could make being a small time designer but with the likes of Celine and Louis Vuitton masterminding collections from the famous nylon print, now we all want a piece of polymer. I must admit, although initially I wasn't smitten, the cute print plimsolls have won me over.
