Well it’s not as sunny as I would like to be, here in Paris, but Iveline has been telling me that summer has begun over in America, so why not a little post about swimwear trends to kick us off? Here are some of my favorite summer swimsuit trends from the runway, and some little shopping ideas to bring it down a tone for real life.
My all time favorite : Retro Swimwear (high-waisted bikinis)
High waisted swimsuits & vintage necklines are my top favorite - über feminine - 2012 summer swimwear trend. The cut is flattering on so many different body type. It is a great way for covering up especially the tummy area, without going for the full on one piece. It’s perfect to give your bum a little more volume too. The shape can also totally transfer in to poolside summer wear, I’m enamoured…
You could team this little suit with some retro cat-eyed sunnies and a light-weight kimono for some poolside glam.
Metallic shades Swimwear
Burberry Prorsum made some beautiful swimsuits in metallic shades for this Spring/Summer 2013. It seems to be a color that’s coming up a lot at the moment, and what a beautiful colour! I wouldn’t risk wearing anything too metallic, mind -at risk of looking like a Christmas present and blinding people eyes in the midday sun. Still a matte color looks great on any skin tone from white as snow to dark chocolate.
Floral and Hawaiian prints
As a self proclaimed lover of the tropical prints, which are on the trend at the moment, what is more summery than a floral bikini!? It adds detail, which adds volume, so mix and match with block color to add emphasis to one area.
I just love the shorts that go with the bikini top from A.Z Arujaro from the Miami Swim Runway. That would look so cute with some white framed sunnies!
Cut out, architectural graphics
Keep your eyes peeled for an architectural inspired bikini DIY this week! The graphic boudoir theme definitely adds a little edge to your look. You could even wear them “après-swim” à la Balenciaga. I could see myself wearing a floaty skirt with the Herve Leger beaut on the left. Just sayin…
