So here is my version of the stuffed crust pizza!
Now please note I plan was to use string cheese ( Kids cheese) int he crust – however I had run out! Joys of half term and kids being at home raiding the fridge! So I improvised and used cheese slices instead.
What was great, was that it wasn’t super cheesy but cheesy enough! Although when can things be too cheesy right?!
Ingredients
200g Wholewheat flour
1 tsp fast acting yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
160ml warm water
1 can chopped tomatoes
1 tsp Italian herbs
Processed cheese slices
Hot sauce
Grated Cheese
Pizza toppings of choice
Add flour, yeast, oil and salt to a mixer
Slowly add warm water while mixer is on, and knead for about 3-5 minutes on medium speed on mixer or by hand. Cover with cling film and allow to rise for 1 hour in a warm place to double in size
Take the dough out and knead by hand and knock out the air, roll out the dough into a large pizza tray (recipe will make 3 smaller pizzas or 1 extra large or 1 large and 1 small), Make sure you roll it off the side of the edge
Take cheese slices and cut in half, add hot sauce to the middle
Roll the slice up long ways
Line around the edge of the pizza
Fold over the dough on the edge wrapping the cheese
Add a tin of chopped tomatoes and herbs to a cup and stir
Add tomato sauce over the base of the dough
Add cheese and toppings to the pizza
Bake in the oven at 220c for14-16 minutes until crust and cheese nice and brown
Slice and serve
