The moment we heard the newest effort from Lost Lander we fell in love. It’s the perfect intersection of intelligent and effervescent indie pop that we have come to crave. It’s simultaneously full of joy and sorrow – made up of tightly constructed pop instrumentation coupled with devastating lyrics of love and loss. It makes sense knowing that songwriter and forester Matt Sheehy found his inspiration from the vast expanses of trees in the Oregon forest where he works as well as the dissolution of his marriage and loss of his mother. Working with longtime friend and bandmate, Sarah Fennel, they created an album that speaks to the dichotomies he was experiencing. Medallion has the air of tragedy without losing sight of beauty, making it all the more potent. Check out the album stream above and be sure to preorder the album out next week here.
