Storyline Meets Jane Davenport

By Midwesterngirl @MidwesternGirl5

Hey hey everyone!
Today I'm here with a new Storyline layout I've created using pieces of Jane Davenport's new collection at Michaels!

If you've followed my work for any amount of time, you know how much I love Heidi Swapp's Storyline collection.
Quick & easy story-focused documenting is my favorite. And Heidi's Storyline pieces are really just the perfect way to get the job done.
But sometimes I like to mix things up a bit.
Sometimes I like to challenge myself to use items I may not always be naturally drawn to in my scrapbooking.
That's where this page comes in.
Now, I'm definitely NOT a mixed media artist (that's also something you probably know if you've followed me for a while). BUT, I love Jane Davenport and her pens, inks & papers.
So, I decided to see what I could do to incorporate some of my favorite pieces of Jane's new collection into a Storyline layout.
How about a look at how my page came together?

I started my page using some of Jane's brand new Mermaid Markers.
If you've never used these beautiful markers, you're missing out.
They work sort of like a watercolor brush...with built-in color.
The colors are bright & bold & GORGEOUS, and there are a ton of different shades available.

To begin, I wrote the word "LOVE" in "Polar Lights" and highlighted it a bit using "Stormy Seas."
Then I added "BEACH" with a journaling marker and highlighted it with pale blue "Lagoon."
I love that little addition!

I added my photo and then tucked a small piece of one of Jane's new Collage Papers...just to include a bit more of that fantastic hot pink.
A few self-adhesive Confettissue pieces add some more color and bit more dimension to the page.

I used my "Lagoon" Mermaid Marker to add some blue scribbles (reminiscent of waves) to the bottom of my page, dropped a few splashes around the paper and then added a bit of journaling.

I really like that I was able to stay true to my style (simple and not too-overembellished), while still using some of my most-loved mixed media products.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope I've inspired you to maybe step outside your creative box and try something new today!
