I’m hesitant to write a review of this film. My YouTube review attracted trolls, so I disabled comments. So, let’s break this down into truths.
- This is a documentary.
- 2) It is available on MAX.
- 3) It features interviews with a range of Republicans who were at various stages in the government when President Trump lost his reelection bid in 2020, and how these people navigated a dangerous situation of being threatened by members of their own party for simply doing their job.
- 4) It has a series of talking heads offering their stories. Most notably, Bill Barr.
5) It does feel like there are gaps in who they were able to talk to. While Barr is the big get, there should have been more dots along the way. The audio description was fine. It did feel like it could have been balanced a bit louder, but that’s just a little thing. It is audible, but I might have kicked it up a notch. Despite my political leanings, I don’t just throw out grades at things that I agree with. This documentary required little to no skill, and really any filmmaker could have assembled this. The stars here are who they are able to get on tape. And that was a place where I felt a few more people could have jumped in.There are several Republicans who have been very vocal about their opinions on this period of time, and how they believed the election results were accurate, yet it seems like the director was happy with just a handful of those voices.
Final Grade: B
