Stoked at Wave House Sentosa

I'm back! And I'm loaded with lots of exciting adventures to share. I don't know if there's anyone out there who misses me while I'm away. (wink!) I'm so sorry for leaving you hanging these past few months. You see, I have moved into a new city and got a new job. And this job I have right now demands a tremendous amount of energy. Even if I always want to update this blog, my body just doesn't want to cooperate. At the end of the day, the only thing I want to do is just retire to my bed and catch more sleep. Except of course if there's a chance, I'll surely go on a new adventure. That's a different story. :D

Don't worry though. I'll try my very best to share all those adventures I had for the past few months. Let's start off with this adventure at Wave House Sentosa. I just learned recently that Singapore isn't that short of activities for thrill seekers. One I highly recommend for you to try whenever you find yourself here in Singapore is the Flow Rider/Flow Barrel at Wave House Sentosa. If you're seeking the adrenaline rush of a lifetime, try this activity. By far, this is the most adrenaline-pumping activity I ever had since I came here in Singapore.

There are two types of waves you can choose from; the Flow barrel and Flow rider. The Flow Barrel is for the brave heart. It reaches up to a 10-foot wave when it's cranked up to setting 11. Yes, the flow of the water can be adjusted, depending on the rider. Most seasoned surfers prefer this.

On the other hand, the Flow Rider is the more basic between the two. This is best for beginners. "Its wave create a safe, non-curling, endless sheet of water flowing at 20ph(32km/h) over a composite vinyl surface, much like a trampoline. Riders can carve up and down the surface and perform many tricks similar to other board sports."-wavehouse Sentosa.

As what they always say, start with the basic. So to the FlowRider WE go. And by WE, I mean, me, my cousin and ate Aireen who just came back from her EuroTrip (insert envy face here). We register ourselves for an hour in the FlowRider. The cashier asked for our identification cards and let us fill-out a waiver form. If you're with a child under 18-year old, a parent or a guardian needs to sign the waiver for him/her.

The FlowRider/FlowBarrel has great instructors at bay. No need to worry if it's your first time, or just learning. I admire their patience in teaching us the how-tos and what's-not in this sport. It's harder to teach someone than learning from someone, right?

Our instructor was great. Since we were first timers, he advised us to use the body board first, so as to get the feel of the water's pressure.

Then slowly teaching us how to balance on a flowboard.

We had a good one hour of bodyboarding and flowboarding, with occasional wipe-outs or anything like it in between. Don't get me wrong, those were our priceless moments (wink). It took us a lot of planking before we even manage to stand on the board without anyone holding our hand.

If you love skimboarding, skateboarding, wakeboarding, and surfing or would love to learn how to surf, this is an amazing practice ground. Here's a piece of advice for first timers, get that patience up and be prepared to be challenged coz it's not that easy.

This Adrenaline-pumping experience doesn't come cheap though. But I assure you, it's worth your dime.
