The first major Ottawa summer festival announced part of their lineup this afternoon. Here are the details of the official announcement by the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival: Steve Martin & Edie Brickell coming to TD Ottawa Jazz Festival!

Steve Martin’s 2012 appearance at the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival broke all Festival attendance records. Martin returns to the 2014 Festival on June 22nd at 8:30 p.m. for the 34th edition (taking place from June 20 – July 1)! This time Martin will appear with Grammy-Award winning collaborator Edie Brickell along with the Steep Canyon Rangers. Steve Martin and Edie Brickell won the GRAMMY award for Best American Roots song at this year’s music industry awards gala.
Although these new musical partners have already built widely-respected individual bodies of work, their inaugural duo effort is a substantial departure, as a well as a creative milestone, for both artists. ‘Love Has Come for You’ offers 13 eloquently rootsy Martin/Brickell compositions that combine the former’s inventive, expressive five-string banjo work with the latter’s heart-tugging vocals and vivid, detail-rich lyrics. www.stevemartin.com www.ediebrickell.com
“Steve Martin continues to evolve and demonstrate a very high level of musicality,” said Festival programming manager Petr Cancura. “He continues to prove himself creatively and forces critics to rethink their early impressions. This is not some actor living out a childhood dream of being a rock star. Steve Martin is an exquisite performer whether it’s on the big screen or a festival stage… he is the genuine article and his latest record proves that.”
June 22 also marks the return of Festival favourites, and newly minted GRAMMY Award winners, Snarky Puppy! Snarky Puppy picked up the award for best R&B performance for the song “Something” featuring Lalah Hathaway on their acclaimed release Family Dinner.
Snarky Puppy rocked the OLG Tent in 2012 with their groove-laced brand of party jazz and will return to that venue again on June 22 at 10:30 p.m. for another late night set.

The Festival’s Main Stage Line-up will be announced March 13th.
