We’ve gotten to know Elephant single by single, which is both good and bad. Led along by infrequent dreamy pop gems (like last year’s “Shapeshifter”), we’re always hungry for more, but it also means we haven’t quite pegged their sound yet. The London duo, Amelia Rivas and Christian Pinchbeck, have embodied Camera Obscura, Cults and Beach House in their last outputs. “Elusive Youth” lands somewhere in between the three, as Rivas’ vocals lead in with a Ronettes’ beat and piercing synth keys before finding a glorious explosion of chorus. Fortunately, Elephant is releasing their full-length debut, Sky Swimming, this April, solidifying their personal vein of dream pop — at least for a little while.
