States of Honor: CCW Reciprocity

Posted on the 03 August 2012 by Infographixdirectory @infographixdir

In this infographic by 511 Tactical, the complexities of concealed carry weapon (CCW) reciprocity are shown, though mapping out the relationships is even more complex. Only 18 States honor more states than they are honored by; the remaining 32 states’ licenses are honored by more states than they honor.

The federal government does not have any legislation around concealed weapons. As such each state is left to determine their own laws regarding the legality of concealed weapons permits. This topic is of much interest to 5.11 Tactical as they provide specialty clothing for concealed carry. There are four basic types of states when it comes to the issuance of concealed weapons permits. There are no issue states (will not give licenses nor respect licenses from other states), shall issue states (if you meet the basic requirements you will be issued a permit, only some state’s permits are honoroed), may issue states (it is up to local authorities whether or not you may have a permit, only some state’s permits are honoroed), and unrestricted states (these states do not require a permit to carry a concealed weapon).
