St. Vincent served up an absolutely perfect finale for Celebrate Brooklyn’s summer concert series at The Bandshell in Prospect Park. Thousands quieted down when the lights dimmed and a digital voice came blaring over the loudspeakers, encouraging the audience to refrain from using their media devices (to better enjoy with their eyes and ears, of course!). However, the crowd immediately ignored this service announcement when Annie Clark hit the stage for “Rattlesnake”, the first track off her most recent, self-titled album.
With only a small backing band behind her, she rocked our world — dancing, singing and shredding the guitar. There was never a doubt that she was giving her full effort, making sure her fans were enjoying themselves. This was my first time to see St. Vincent, and I can’t wait to see her again.
