SRK’s Chennai Express Music Review: Disappoints

Music director duo Vishal and Sekhar have delivered chartbuster albums in the past like Om Shanti Om and Ra.one with Shah Rukh Khan. And they have been doing that as composers besides the star’s film too unlike director Rohit Shetty who’s film’s haven’t had good music barring one film. So expectations are kept in check despite the blockbuster combination of SRK and Vishal-Sekhar.

The worst fears come true as soon as one hears the first song from the album “1234 Get On The Dance Floor”. It’s a forgettable song to put it politely. Titli and Meherbani are good melody numbers that needs time to grow, especially the former. Meherbani is an instant winner.

No sooner the hopes grow courtesy the two melodies they are dashed again with the songs that follow them. All the songs ‘Kashmir Main, Kanyakumar Tu’ , ‘Ready Steady Po’ and SPB sung ‘Chennai Express’ are a downer and lacks both melody or the foot tapping quality. The tunes for these song itself are so lackluster the there interest to listen them is lost.

Overall the barring the two melodies the album lacks even a decent tune. A big disappointment both as a follower of SRK music or as a follower of Vishal-Sekhar’s music.

Our picks: Titli, Meherbaan
Rating:2.5/5
