Sprouts!!! {Lake Tahoe, Part 2}

By Marensmorsels @marentweets

I want to get a quick little lunch post in before we get to all the Tahoe Fun!

If you missed Part 1 of the weekend recap, definitely check it out.

Lunch

Dad sent me on a mish (mission) for sandwiches today. I haven’t had Erik’s in over a week!!! OMG, I know.

I’m definitely back to clean eating. I didn’t feel my usual AWESOME after so many splurges this weekend. I’m ready to get that pep back in my step.

So, I ordered the Pilgrim’s Progress, minus goo with a side of vegetarian vegetable soup. Holy yum!

I love all the sprouts!

My lunch was about 650 calories. And breakfast was 350.

I’ve got a big workout planned for tonight! Definitely check back. Now, let’s get back to all the Tahoe Fun from this weekend!

Saturday!!!

Max and I had a 4 mile run on our 1/2 Marathon Training Schedules. (Should I do a 1/2 Marathon Training page???). So we woke up and got our butts in gear!

Cookies make great pre-workout fuel!

Now I had a pretty epic plan for this run. I wanted to run 4 miles out along the lake. Then have my parents and brother pick Max and I up on the way into Tahoe City and we could all have breakfast at a diner I’d found on yelp.

I’m a planner when it comes to food! Luckily everyone thought this was a great idea so it all became a reality.

Here’s some pictures from running around the lake.

Doesn’t everyone want to see this on their run? I do…

Best workout idea ever! We even got in a mile cool down around the lake before we finally spotted our pick-up ride.

Breakfast

After our run we were HUNGRY! We found a great diner on Yelp called The Fire Sign. It had 4.5 stars from over 150 reviews. It’s not rocket science to know that’s a good sign.

The restaurant was great. We were really happy we ended up there for breakfast. They only serve Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch so you have to go before 3pm. But trust me… you want to go!

They have a muffin a day there. Saturday’s muffin was sweet potato.

I had my usual diner breakfast: 2 eggs over medium, bacon, and country potatoes. Instead of toast you can order a muffin (do it!) and their potatoes were veggie style.

Of course I added some hot sauce!

These veggie country potatoes were the BEST! They were really tasty with onion, pepper, and mushrooms. Why can’t all diners make their potatoes this way?

After breakfast we headed home for showers and some naps.

I made a salad for lunch.

We wanted to hike down to the Vikingsholm, a 1920’s mansion right on Lake Tahoe made to look like a viking castle. It’s really really cool. But the 1 mile walk down and 1 mile walk back up was not so cool after our run that morning.

I had an apple with peanut butter as soon as we walked in the door. Max and I calculated and we think we covered almost 7 miles Saturday with our run, cool down walk and this little hilly hike. Wheww.

We also decided it was beer-oclock! And when the beer comes out… so do the chips!

I didn’t get any pictures of dinner. We ended up going to the market and getting a bunch of snacky foods. We had chicken and white bean soup, salad, asian chicken wings, chips and salsa, pizza. It was eat what you want from what’s here. AWESOME.

And after dinner we made some brownies, popped open a Cupcake Vineyard bottle of Chardonnay and played Apples to Apples.

I Love Vacation!
