Spring into Action

By Thedesignerpad @TheDesignerPad

Are you one of those people that still has a long list of spring cleaning chores to accomplish but just hasn't had the time (or the will) to getting them done? With Spring almost reaching the halfway mark, I think it's time to roll up your sleeves to avoid the list from getting any longer — and of course get your home ready for Summer. These five easy steps will help you get the ball rolling and give you the push you so desperately need.

1. BE TRUTHFUL: Clear your mind of any excuses. If there is something that is keeping you from getting started with your spring cleaning, it's time to address them! Prep your mind for success and allow no room for wiggling out of it.

2. SET YOUR GOALS: Be clear and explicit with what you’re want to accomplish. Many times people procrastinate about their cleaning (and loads of other tasks) because they are assuming the job is immensely more challenging than it actually is. Remember that you are not rebuilding the home. You’re just cleaning and organizing.

3. DIVIDE AND CONQUER: Make it a group effort. Involve others in your household to help out with the chores. Once you have your to-do list prepared, get your troops in on the plan. There's always plenty to do for everyone. This is a family job – not the labor of one.

4. STOCK UP: Make sure you have your cleaning supplies, paint, mulch and whatever else you may need to accomplish your goals. Go to your local hardware store and pick up the all materials in your list (see more at Gotstock) so when you are ready to begin you won't have to stop in the middle of your chores. That is an interference in productivity that cannot be tolerated.

5. TAKE ACTION: Now that you’re all set it’s time to get things started—possibly the hardest step for any spring cleaning procrastinator. Begin on one of the less gruesome tasks on your list and begin the work. It really doesn't matter what you choose to do as long as you are up moving and beginning to knock out that long list of yours.

READY, SET, GO!
