Now that it's April, I feel like I can actually start doing some proper spring related posts. The sun is/was coming out and it suddenly doesn't feel wrong to be looking forward to the summer anymore. I've had a rummage through my drawers, searching for all things pretty and pastel in order to feel a bit more seasonally appropriate, and here's what I have come up with.
Spring makeup, to me, is all about just enhancing what you naturally have but there will always still be bits that we want to hide which is why concealer comes top of my list. My latest love has been the Maybelline FitMe Concealer (I have the shade Light and it's actually a little too dark for me at the moment, so it may not be one for the fairer amongst you) a creamy concealer that still delivers on coverage (and a possible dupe for the NARS Creamy Concealer). A naturally flushed cheek is perfect for the spring time, and theBalm's DownBoy fits the bill perfectly: a pretty baby-pink color that blends seamlessly into the skin, this is definitely a must-have around this time of the year. To finish off the skin, a dewy setting powder that makes the skin look as if it is lit from within, it has to been the Bourjois Rice Powder - which I apply a light dusting of using the Real Techniques blush brush.
Keeping with the natural look, I think it is nice to go for products with lighter and sheerer finishes than one would, perhaps, use in the colder months. For lips, this is where butters and glosses come into play. Two of my favourites are the Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti and theBalm's Plump My Pucker Lipgloss. Both deliver a subtle wash of color that help to perk up the face, whilst being fuss free to apply and the easiest thing ever to throw on in the morning. Then all that is left is the eyes, which I like to play up by using a nice, fluttery mascara, such as the Yves Rocher Sexy Pulp, which helps to add volume at the roots and a tiny bit of length for a natural-ish look.
What will you be wearing this spring?
