If you’ve ever been to a movie or watched television, chances are good that you’ve seen jewelry from the Fred Leighton collection in action. Meryl Streep wore one of his necklaces in the 2006 movie The Devil Wears Prada. In fact, the Leighton piece featured on Streep’s neck was the most expensive costume item in the movie, clocking in at an impressive $100,000.

But you won’t just find Leighton’s collection on screen. Additionally, Fred Leighton is no stranger to the red carpet. Dozens of celebrities have worn Leighton, from Sarah Jessica Parker to Beyonce to Miss Piggy. What makes Leighton’s collection so popular amongst the most famous women in the world? The answer is simple: Fred Leighton’s estate jewelry is not only some of the most beautiful pieces in existence, but they offer the wearer the opportunity to be a part of history.

For over 40 years, Fred Leighton has been collecting pieces made by the finest jewelers from the most exquisite eras in jewelry-making history, including the elegant and refined Edwardian age, the bold Art Deco period, and the distinctive Mid-Century. Leighton also designs his own line of contemporary jewelry just as memorable and timeless as his estate collection.

Fred Leighton has collaborated with a number of other jewelry designers, like Lori Goldstein, who was handed a back full of Leighton archive beads by Rebecca Selva, Leighton’s creative director, with the commandment that Goldstein design whatever she wanted with them. And indeed she did, creating a colorful, daring array of pieces.

Leighton also collaborated with Italian jewelry designer Laura Cardillo on a necklace that Uma Thurman wore to the 2002 Academy Awards.

You can get a closer look at Fred Leighton’s estate jewelry collection on the Fred Leighton website, or you can view it in person at one of two Leighton boutiques, located in New York City and at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada.
