Spending Sunday on London's South Bank

Faced with briefs, I walked around poised with an iPhone 8 Plus challenging myself to be creative and take 'different' photos. Now the iPhone 8 Plus camera offers 'portrait mode' a feature very much raved about and I can totally see the appeal. With the opportunity to take almost DSLR rivaling photos from a phone that (might) fit in my pocket, it's quite something. You'll be able to see just what I mean from the photos in this post. I've only done the minimum to them in Lightroom, straightening lines up where needed and tweaking the shadows slightly. Other than that, everything you see is straight from the iPhone. In true North-Eastern dialect, the colours are canny.
As a blogger, I can't see me making a switch to only using an iPhone for my photography, I enjoy using my DSLR and switching lenses and thinking about shutter speed and aperture to get the image in my head. That being said, I was very impressed by the 8 Plus but there's other purchases I need to look at for now, ahead of splashing out £800 on a new handset.

Even given the option to try out the Samsung S8, I immediately went for the iPhone. It's fair to say I'm firmly set in the Apple fan club and honestly, since I first made the switch over (the iPhone 5s if you're wondering) I can't see me going back. Whilst the Samsung has some interesting features and undeniably does boast a good camera, it's just not an iPhone. Sorry. Pro mode on the camera does look fun though, with the ability to manually control all the settings, this is also something you could do via iPhone using the Lightroom app.

I won 'best photo' for my shot of waffles at Maltby Street market and was quite pleased with myself. A photo I took using portrait mode, but for food rather than a typical headshot. Just look at the detail on the fruit. That dog; I didn't catch the breed but it was too cute! Everyone's photos throughout the day looked great and it was interesting to see how we'd each interpreted the briefs differently.

I wasn't sure what to expect from a photowalk and certainly after training legs at the gym the day before, I didn't anticipate how much walking we'd do. It's just so easy to wander around London.

Have you taken part in a photowalk? Would it be something you'd like to do?
Handsets were provided by Three for the purpose of the photowalk. All photos featured were taken by myself using the iPhone 8 Plus (which I very much wish I could upgrade to. Like. Now.)
