People are praising Job (the dog) for a job well done. The deaf and blind rescue dog from New Berlin, Wisconsin, began barking and spinning in circles during a walk, which was his way of alerting his owner to an underground gas leak.

“We’re proud of him every day, specifically that day,” the dog’s owner James Densmore told WISN News, who first reported the story.

Neighbors noticed the smell, too, and when WE Energies visited the area with its gas detectors to check nearby homes, they found a natural gas leak right where the Lhasa Apso mix was standing. “All of a sudden, he heard ‘beep beep,’” said Densmore of the detectors.

Adopted from the Wisconsin Humane Society by the Densmores in 2012, the shelter was elated to hear of Job’s heroics.

“When we received word of Job’s latest achievement, we were beyond speechless,” the shelter wrote in a Facebook post. “We are immensely proud of our little alumnus and we’re so grateful to have a community whose generous support makes miraculous stories like his possible!”
