Sous Les Cerisiers in the 6th: Another Japanese Chef Doing Franco-japonaise Cooking.

By Johntalbott

Sous Les Cerisiers, 12, rue Stanislas in the 6th (Metro: ND des Champs), 01.42.77.46.24, closed Sundays and Mondays, has been open a couple of years but a French couple we've known for eons just moved nearby and invited us to come.  I was puzzled I'd never heard of it until after our meal I went to Le Figaro and saw that Rubin gave it a broken heart even though readers gave it three hearts and the editorial staff kept mentioning in it summaries of Japanese chef'd places.  It's very clean, clear and has a 24.80 E 6-course bento at lunch, including a 4-fish miso soup (puzzlingly, they have wine only by the glass, but it's only 5 or 5.50 E).

The bentos differed from each other only in their plat (a choice of shrimp tempura, sushi or tuna), otherwise one got noodles, salmon with endives, foie gras and sashimi.  It was all quite pleasant ifnot earth-shaking.
