Sony SmartWatch Opts For Open-Source

By Creativevisualart @creativevisart

Sony has shown it still can be a pioneer after releasing the first true smartwatch from a major manufacturer that is fully open-source. Running on Android, Sony’s SmartWatch is compatible with various Google Play applications and there are opportunities to develop new software for the watch with Sony offering fresh alternative firmware versions Open SmartWatch, the official project page.

The watch has a simple, elegant body with multi-level touch support used to sense various gestures, phone-paired notifications for calls, messages and other forms of communication. The wristwatch is available in black and white with various wristwatch combinations.

Will the Sony SmartWatch compete with the expected iWatch? Time will tell.
