Something That I Missed When in London Last Winter 'holid...

Something that I missed when in London last winter 'holiday', was the incredibly cool showroom - aptly called, The Vintage Showroom. Curated by collectors and co-founders, Douglas Gunn and Roy Luckett, this vast collection houses authentic men's wear of the early 20th century that includes, clothing from work, war and play. The clothes are found in old trunks, yard sales and the general culling through of old trunks and attics and then housed in this Covent Garden, Seven Dial area shop.  Gorgeous in their present, used state, the pieces show the 'deliberate utility' of each piece.... holes in the crotches and all.

  This place was originally brought to my attention via an email regarding their new book (we'll get to that in a second) and I was instantly enrapt by the accompanying video:

 UHHH!! total heaven to spend a few hours in this shop. I want all of those, vintage, Rowing blazers. What an amazing archive and source of inspiration. Anyone, at all who is interested in fashion does and must go here.

So, as I was saying, The Vintage Showroom is now available in book form. The lavish book is filled with big, simple glossy photos of some of their most interesting pieces. So basically, it's like really well done fashion porn for those who love the history of men's wear and fashion in general.
