Someone we actually love…
Ava Duvernay Delivering UCLA Film School Commencement Speech
Even though she never went to film school herself, a lauded director will deliver a prestigious film school’s commencement speech.
Ava Duvernay, the brains behind “Selma”, “Queen Sugar” and the forthcoming “A Wrinkle In Time”, will speak at the graduation ceremony for UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television Friday, June 16.
Filmmaker Justin Lin will also be honored at the 70th annual commencement ceremony with a distinguished alumni award as well as actor Michael Stuhlbarg and Austrian businesswoman Nadja Swarovski of the Swarovski family.
Ava’s celebrating her upcoming speaking gig on Twitter.

Never went to film school. Ended up there anyway. A full-circle moment. Go, Bruins! xo https://t.co/MTiLd0eitV
