Now, we learn that “ProjectMinE,” partially sponsored by these contributions, has identified a genetic factor associated with familial ALS. The recent discovery of the variant in the gene will hopefully move scientists closer to the goals of understanding and potentially eliminating this debilitating disease. It’s heartening to see the results of the fund-raising apparent so quickly.
