Recently, awesome new carrier AirAsia Philippines announced their daily flight to Singapore starting December 15, 2012. But the awesome news do not stop there, as the airline and their CEO Ms. Maan Hontiveros had revealed more exciting developments. Read more…
But before anything, I went to the recently-concluded AirAsia Awesome Roadshow at The Block SM City North EDSA. It was a two-day activity filled with games like basketball, Kinect, and Nerf. Winners received free premium items and free seats to red hot destinations. It actually fun seeing that many people all afternoon.
Likewise on the same day, the AirAsia Travel Service Center (ATSC) was officially launched at the ground floor of The Block SM City North EDSA. It’s a collaboration with Wintrex Travel, and it exclusively reserves and confirms AirAsia flights and promo fares, not only in the Philippines but across Asia. Aside from booking flights, it can do modifications to an existing reservation, like flight rebooking and cancellation, even if the reservation was done online.
One of the big news AirAsia Philippines announced was the lowering of international passenger terminal fee at Clark International Airport (IATA: CRK). Effective October 5, 2012, the fee was lowered by 25 percent from 600 PHP to 450 PHP. Actually, it was Ms. Maan herself who tweeted me about the news. She believes it will benefit budget travelers a lot.
Plus, given that “On Time, All the Time” is AirAsia’s mantra, the airline now offers an On-Time Guarantee. Qualified passengers who have purchased AirAsia Insure, available for as low as 200 PHP, will receive 2,000 PHP if a flight delay of more than two hours is caused solely by AirAsia. Their insurance product carries a host of travel emergency benefits too!
Another update is that Victory Liner has changed its shuttle bus services from Marquee Mall to Clark International Airport to accommodate more passengers, especially those with early morning flights. The service now runs as early as 5:00 AM. Read my updated post here.
AirAsia has also recently rolled out a fresh mobile app for Android, iOS, and BlackBerry OS. It carried over the features of the previous version like flight bookings and mobile check-in, but now, it includes travel guides and an onboard menu. I’ll feature it more on a separate post, but for now, it can be downloaded free from the different mobile app stores.
Lastly, Travel 3Sixty, AirAsia’s inflight magazine, has launched a contest, Philippines in Pixels. They’re on the lookout for amazing and inspiring photos of the country, and among the prizes up for grabs are two roundtrip Clark-Kuala Lumpur tickets plus a two-night stay from AirAsiaGo worth 10,000 PHP.
