Facebook, Whatsapp, Viber, Line, Wechat, Google+ and whatnot.A person has to be on one of them. He/she has to be- it’s the rule of the 21st century. Ironical isn’t it? We seem to spend most of our times in these apps rather than the beautiful nature Mother Earth has provided us. Let me prove it to you. I usually go out during the evening of a weekend to look at people and observe them. I roam the areas which I can and there will be not one nook or corner where people are not clicking selfies. Not one corner where a man can jog without earplugs in his ears. Not one person who wouldn’t have a phone in his hand and sending a text to a person. Even I am not a person who has escaped the clutches of social networks. I will admit this, because I can’t portray myself to be the perfect human being when I had created this blog to share my thoughts with you to improve my views rather than to show myself the preferred ones of the mother Earth. But every week I leave my phone behind and go around looking at what are the people of my mini-city up to. I learn a helluva lot just from observing. You have to try it once. Leave every single gadget back at home and go out. Check out the sights and sounds the nature has to provide. The smell of the fresh air. The majestic sights which you hadn't even known that it existed in your own colony! My family loves going out for outings. So I will also give some observations which I had picked up from these outings. I will give two experiences and I can assure you that you might have also observed these on your outings!
It was during a movie premiere when I first observed this abomination I was kind of surprised. After all who checks his/her WhatsApp or updates the facebook status of the profile stating that watching xyz movie while watching the movie at the same time. Horrendous I would say, because it’s an obstacle every person in the cinema has to encounter. The light emitted by the screen of the phone diverts the attention of the crowd from the giant screen to the small screen- making it troublesome- but still manageable.
Second was bad. It didn't affect me in any way, but, I would never want my family to become like that. It all happened when we went to eat outside. Before our food arrived, I was taking in the sights the restaurant provided me. The deep blue Turkish carpets, the rotating floor, the way other people were talking with each other. And then. Then I noticed a family with a small boy of around five celebrating his birthday. That was not which caught my interest. It was when he was cutting the cake, his mom was clicking pictures so that they would remember this and his dad was tagging the pics on fb saying most probably “my son’s birthday.”And why were they doing this? According to me, I think they have caught up in the web of the internet ( pun intended) They don’t care anymore about spending the time so they will cherish these moments. They want to show off how they enjoy their time through the forms of sharing it on Facebook and other websites. I mean what will the child think after 10 years off this incident? “Mum why did you post my private pics on Facebook? I don’t like my life becoming a show. I want to live like myself not like Truman from the Truman Show” This would be harsh for the whole family. So I feel that all this drama should stop and we should leave our gizmos behind and step out in the real world. Stop our fast lives for a moment and take a moment to reflect on the moment that just passed before us and we seemed to ignore it. Stop our social lives a bit and share more with our closed ones than the ones who don’t seem to care about you. Think on this!
