So How’s ‘Z Nation’ Doing?

Syfy’s latest series Z Nation has had two episodes, and enough time for audiences to have an opinion on the show. The last episode pulled in 1.6 million viewers and a 0.5 rating in the target demo (18-49). You could chalk that up to being a Friday show, but Girl Meets World pulled in 2.4 million and 0.7 in the demo. Mind you that the demo starts at 18, and Girl Meets World is targeted at below 18 year old kids, and it is still outpacing Z Nation.

In comparison, FOX’s megaflop Utopia was watched by 1.5 million viewers and also pulled in a 0.5 rating in the demo. So either Z Nation is a hit, or Utopia needs to be cancelled for almost losing to Z Nation.

It’s unclear who the audience is, as the show has a 4.9 on IMDB, a 53% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 48 on Metacritic. So the question is, was Syfy’s experiment in copying The Walking Dead worthwhile? Will it survive the season?
