Qualcomm has finally revealed the Snapdragon X Plus platform for laptops after a few rumors. This one is less powerful than the Snapdragon X Elite. The Snapdragon X Elite has a 12-core CPU, but the X Plus has ten cores of Oryon CPUs running at 3.4 GHz. It can handle up to 64 GB of RAM and has a bandwidth of 135 GB/s.

When we talk about Oryon CPUs, these new processors are 37% faster than competing chips and use 54% less power, which Qualcomm didn’t say. The Snapdragon X Plus was made using a 4nm process. It works with LPDDR5x RAM and has 45MB of overall cache. It can run three 4K screens at the same time, but the refresh rate is limited to 60Hz. A high-tech ISP for photos, WiFi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4 are all built-in.

Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon X Plus’s NPU is the fastest in the world, which makes it stand out from other chips in the same class. It has a 45 TOPS NPU, which is why. Qualcomm says that the X Plus will have “exceptional performance, long battery life, and industry-leading on-device AI capabilities.”

In Qualcomm’s talk, they showed off different ways that on-device AI can be used. This included code creation in Visual Studio Code with Codegen, which uses AI to make new code right away on the device.

They also showed how to make music in Audacity using Riffusion, a feature that lets on-device AI make new music based on commands or current music. Lastly, they talked about live captions in OBS Studio. Whisper AI, which is built into the device, can support up to 100 languages and turn spoken languages into live captions in real-time during live streams.

Laptops with the Snapdragon X Plus should be available “from leading global OEMs” in a few months.
