It's summer. It's hot, like almost 100 degrees everyday hot! It's the time of year when JC complains about his beard. Now, I love his beard, like love, love, love his beard and never want him to shave it BUT I do understand wanting to be free of hair in this hot, humid, muggy weather. In the time we have been together, he has only been beardless once and it takes some getting used to. For most men, shaving everyday is a hassle and a beard is the perfect solution. Beard upkeep isn't easy though. So last week, I decided I would put my wants aside and ask him to shave off his beard so he could be more comfortable this summer.

I managed to have my camera handy when I said that and this was the exact look I got. Skeptical, much?

He really didn't believe me and it actually took a couple of days of talking about it to convince him that I wanted him to shave his beard. When we were finally on the same page, we went to Walmart to buy exactly what he would need!

Taking a man to pick out a razor is like taking a child to pick out a toy. It a LONG process. They say they know what they want but when they get to the store, they are completely overwhelmed and want everything!!

JC picked out the Gillette Fusion Flexball Manual Razor and Gillette Fusion ProGlide Sensitive Skin Shave Gel. Reasoning for choosing the Flexball where as follows (his exact words):
  • Cool Interactive In-store display
  • The Flexball will respond to contours on my face
  • It has 5 blades, more blades make for closer shaves
On to the actual shaving! First step: trim all the hair off with a trimmer. JC made sure I learned this because I didn't know that you couldn't just use the razor. I thought, pop the razor out of the plastic, add gel to your face and shave. NOPE!

After your beard is trimmed, then you can shave with the razor. It was a little awkard to be hanging out int he bathroom with him while he shaved. This was usually "alone" territory and I was invading his space and with a camera!

Watching a man shave his face is not a super fun process so I decided to entertain myself by asking a few questions. It's amazing how much I still don't know about this man! So here we go: Shaving Q & A with JC!
#1: When did you start shaving? I started shaving when I was 13.
#2: How was that experience: Horrible! I looked like I got into a fight with a cat by the time I was done. My dad wasn't around by then and I didn't have anyone to teach  me that you cannot shave side to side!
#3: How many facial hair looks have you tried: 6 (obviously, a man of few words!)

Another thing I learned: razors come with trimmers on the reverse side of the blades. This trimmer is super important, especially if you want to keep a tidy  mustache or goatee.

See the difference? The Gillette Fusion Flexball has an awesome trimmer!

We decided to try out various looks that day! (If you follow me on Instagram @scggirl, you have been keeping up with all this fun!!) First a goatee:

We both liked that look. Then a mustache:

Ehh, not so much! This was not a good look! Then, lol and behold, fully shaven!!

A nice, clean, fresh, smooth look. I think he looks so young! It's definitely a look I have gotten used to. Still so handsome!
Last question from our Q & A:#4: How does it feel to have a Smooth Summer face? I like my smooth summer face. It feels fresh and I like feeling the wind hit my face.
Now tell me, which look did you like the best? How do you like your man, clean shaven or sporting a beard?
