Former President and Polonnaruwa District MP Maithripala Sirisena told Parliament yesterday that a SLFP member was sworn in as a Government Minister, contrary to the Party’s decision.
SLFP MP Nimal Siripala de silva obtained a Minister post yesterday.
The former President said that the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) had not taken a decision on obtaining Ministerial portfolios but had decided to support the Government without taking up Ministerial posts.
He pointed out that the people are suffering from hunger and the country needs to be streamlined in order to rebuild it and his Party would give their fullest support to the Government.
Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya General Secretary Ranjith Maddumabandara yesterday said that the Party membership of parliamentarians Manusha Nanayakkara and Harin Fernando have been suspended after they took over Ministerial portfolios against the Party’s decision.
He said that these MPs have gone against the Party’s decision by accepting the Ministerial portfolios.
