Slammin’ Sam Lager to Hold Launch Party at World Golf Village

By Marc Wisdom @JaxBeerGuy

The World Golf Hall of Fame, located in the World Golf Village just south of Jacksonville, Fla., will host the Florida launch party for Slammin’ Sam beer Friday, Dec. 7. Slammin’ Sam is a new American lager being introduced by Slammin’ Sam Beer Company of Pinehurst, NC.

According to a press release on Dec. 4, the brew “boasts a slightly mellow flavor, a delicious taste and exceptionally balanced finish.” The brew is inspired by one of the greatest of golf’s legends, Sam Snead, a Hall of Fame member and holder of an astounding 82 PGA Tour titles. Slammin’ Sam is aimed squarely at the golf enthusiast and other active lifestyle consumers.

The brew is produced in Wisconsin by the Stevens Point Brewery, winner of multiple World Beer Cup Gold Medals, and brewer Ray Klimovitz, himself a recipient of the 2011 Distinguished Life Service Award from the Master Brewers Association of the Americas. Venues that already serve the brew include Pinehurst, The Greenbriar, The Homestead, and select Sam Snead Taverns. You can also find the brew in bars, taverns, restaurants, and grocery stores throughout the country.

Sam Snead was known for his unorthodox, self-taught golf swing and six-decade professional career. Snead, who passed away in 2002 at age 89, played on seven and captained three U.S. Ryder Cup teams and was named PGA Player of the Year in 1949. Snead is also immortalized in the name of one of World Golf Village’s signature courses the Slammer & Squire, which he also helped design.

The launch party is open to the public and is free, but requires registration in advance at www.worldgolfhalloffame.org. The party kicks-off at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m.
