Microsoft launched the new feature for a limited audience in the US and the UK back in April, 2013 to test the feature. During the past few months of this test period a lot of users had issues with this feature, including a bug that made calls continue to ring even after pick-up. Microsoft claims they have fixed this bug and a lot of other issues to bring a better Skype experience for Outlook.com users. It now even supports HD video calling for PC users.
“We know that face to face conversation brings people closer together, and we are excited to make richer and more engaging connections possible,” Skype’s Karen Tong wrote on the Skype blog. “With Skype for Outlook.com, you can easily connect with your Skype friends right from your Outlook.com inbox, so you can go from chat or email to a video call with just one click.”

In order to start Skyping from your Outlook.com inbox, you have to install the Skype for Outlook plugin. It’s available for Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Internet Explorer.
