Skype 6.0 Brings New Design to iOS And Android

Skype is rolling out a new update to their iOS & Android version. The Skype 6.0 update will be a complete redesign from the last iteration. Microsoft calls this update 'nature and intuitive', the new redesign would make the app more streamline and add a bunch of new features.

Skype for Android will not only add new custom ringtones, photo sharing and web link previews in chat itself but also create a new UI with the floating action button for aimed at a very elegant navigation approach. The new Android redesign is inspired by the Google's recent Material design making the App look more blended in the OS than being the out-of-the-place app with a old design.

Skype for iOS adds a new navigation method too. Instead of floating icons like in Android, the Skype design team has taken advantage of the swipe gestures to bring in extra functions like making a call or send a message to a contact. Also added are the options to share photos, web link preview, emojis and location sharing along with the regular voice & video call.

Along with redesign are the regular bug fixes. The only odd notion by Microsoft is the ignored Windows platform for now. The Windows version of Skype will not be getting an update as of now, they have been working on the new Skype version which will be launched & integrated with Windows 10 mobile but it will take some time. It definitely would be fixed with all the known bugs and have a much finished UI but that rollout along with the iOS and Android update would have been much more appreciated.
