If there ever was a celebrity qualified to launch their own shoe collection, it must be Sarah Jessica Parker. Her SJP Shoe Collection exclusively for Nordstrom’s launches February 28th, but most of the magazines have been running previews of the shoes, and they are adorable! As Carrie Bradshaw SJP single-handedly turned a whole generation of women into BMM>Collection>Generic&cm_mmc=GoogleUK-_-BrandGeneric-_-Collection>Generic-_-jimmy+choo+collection">BMM>Collection>Generic&cm;_mmc=GoogleUK-_-BrandGeneric-_-Collection>Generic-_-jimmy+choo+collection">BMM>Collection>Generic&cm;_mmc=GoogleUK-_-BrandGeneric-_-Collection>Generic-_-jimmy+choo+collection">BMM>Collection>Generic&cm;_mmc=GoogleUK-_-BrandGeneric-_-Collection>Generic-_-jimmy+choo+collection">BMM>Collection>Generic&cm;_mmc=GoogleUK-_-BrandGeneric-_-Collection>Generic-_-jimmy+choo+collection">BMM>Collection>Generic&cm;_mmc=GoogleUK-_-BrandGeneric-_-Collection>Generic-_-jimmy+choo+collection">BMM>Collection>Generic&cm;_mmc=GoogleUK-_-BrandGeneric-_-Collection>Generic-_-jimmy+choo+collection">BMM>Collection>Generic&cm;_mmc=GoogleUK-_-BrandGeneric-_-Collection>Generic-_-jimmy+choo+collection">Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin addicts. Carrie may have had her romantic foibles and she may have hit many love speed bumps along the way to Mr Big, but my God, did she looks fabulous doing so. The shoes became an iconic and integral part of the Carrie Bradshaw wardrobe. Not only because the shoes were seriously fabulous but also because that is the one part of her wardrobe all women could relate to. You may not have been as tiny as Carrie and be able to pull of some of her more adventurous outfits, but we could ALL wear the shoes. (If we could afford them, that is).
The SJP Show Collection is made for all of us. They are Italian manufactured with beautiful detail and above all, SJP wanted shoes to be timeless and comfortable enough for women to wear for a long, long time. The shoes are not cheap, they mostly run from about $200- $500 but SJP has been very conscious about designing shoes that are versatile will last the test of time, she realises that is an investment for a lot of women, and she would like women to feel comfortable wearing the shoes every day.
The SJP Shoe Collection has been designed with Manolo Blahnik. When SJP rang the company CEO saying “I have been thinking about shoes lately”, they invited her in for a meeting the next day. In keeping with the personal touch, all the shoes in the SJP Shoe Collection have been named after women who inspire her. There’s Jill for her best friend in LA, Brigitte (for Bardot) and naturally Carrie (for Bradshaw.)
Most of the shoes are high-heeled shoes and very dainty and glamorous. I like the fact they have kept the heel at a “moderate” level, as most women are not able to run on 6 inch heels all day. However fabulous sky-high heels look, most of the time they are just not practical for doing the grocery shopping or the school run. The colours in the SJP Shoe Collection range from shiny metallic hues of pink and red to bright poppy and lightest turquoise. Most of all, looking at the collection, each pair looks like something SJP would wear herself, and I think that is the best endorsement there is. A shoe that looks like its designer. The SJP Shoe Collection launches at Nordstrom’s on February 28th, and I’m now off to investigate if Nordstrom’s offer international shipping.
