With a Parliamentary majority, the SJB will support the president’s positive initiatives, such as on anti-corruption, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Colombo District candidate and former Minister Eran Wickramaratne said.
“In return, he should support our positive policies, particularly those on the economy. Because it is the SJB that has the economic knowledge, experience and capabilities to drive the economy forward”.
He said in a democracy, a president and Parliament can come from different parties and work together.
“This has proven successful numerous times around the world. In 2020, Sri Lanka elected Parliament from the same party as the president, and it took less than two years for the country to go bankrupt”. Wickramaratne said he left his career as a banker and economist to enter Parliament with the goal of effecting positive change, both in our political culture and economic framework.
“This same mission drives me to contest the upcoming General Election, under the banner of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya in the Colombo District. With your vote, I can continue the work of advancing meaningful change, with integrity, empathy, and unwavering determination”, he added, speaking at a recent SJB meeting.
