Last weekend, I ended up watching reruns of Frasier and Roseanne on TVTropolis - could those shows be any more different? - and something caught my attention. There was more size diversity with women on TV. For some reason, women looked more voluptuous and bustier then women on TV today. OR at least, that's came to mind when I watched Roz & Roseanne. Not to mention, I was amazed at how covered up women were. I mean, can you imagine Blake Lively wearing a turtleneck on Gossip Girl today? I don't know if there is a real difference in the diversity of women's appearance on TV between now and then but it was a good excuse to to take a walk down TV memory lane. Remember these gals?
BFF's Ally and Renee on Ally McBeal
Sisters Roseanne and Jackie on Roseanne
Frenemies Will and Karen on Will & Grace
Friends Daphne and Roz on Frasier
Eccentric besties Blossom and Six from Blossom
Cybill and her hard drinking friend Maryann in Cybill
I miss the female characters from the 90's TV shows. They were easier to identify with. Today, you have Snooki, JWOWW and the Kardashian clan... BLERG!
Anyway, some food for thought. Have a happy Friday!
